I also would have liked different options from Lexus in the SUV department. I've just accepted that I'm not the target audience, which is fine. The RX sales crush all other luxury SUVs in the segment in the US, so they are doing something right. I like the look of Lexus F-Sports, but the weak engine doesn't fit. I would like to see them follow up the turbo 4 with a 6. That would definitely even the playing field with the Germans a little to match some of their engine specs, even if Lexus keeps it toned down a bit on performance.

Of course there are compromises with SUVs, but through my test drives the 3RX seemed the slowest and least sure footed. It wasn't for me. We ended up deciding to get a three row vehicle, and to me the massive GL we bought is easier to drive than even the NX.

I'm not debating that Lexus is doing anything wrong, the 4RX is a fine vehicle. But considering their reputation for boring and uninspired product, I would think that more power/performance options would benefit them. As of now, the only advantage IMO that the 4RX has over competitors is fit and finish. I think that offering more power/performance options would allow Lexus to dominate the competition even more than it already is in this segment and lure buyers like you and me.

True but why would a company already exceeding its sales goals want to spend money they can use to invest in areas they are doing poorly in (like engine development for their F line or autonomous R&D)

Again, unless someone decides to build a vehicle which "steals their lunch money" from Biz standpoint being boring is no problem
