Default Windshield Wiper Confusion

My wife has a 2019 RX350 and the passenger side wiper is falling apart. I was at the store and looked in the little book and it said that the 26 and 21 Rain X Endura Silicone blades would fit, so I grabbed those. I opened them up and the directions were a little confusing so I scanned the bar code that promised to link to installation instructions. On the page that opened it asked for the year model and make of the car for specific instructions and it informed me that they do not fit the 19 RX350. I then go to their main website and search for any blades that would fit this vehicle, and it said that they DO fit the car, but when you click on "installation instructions", it says that they don't. I finally figured out which adapter to use and they do seem to click into the arm on the car, but it allows about 3/16 of movement in and out. So I decided to return them.

When the wipers that are on the vehicle are removed, the clip shows a Lexus number, so I assumed they were OEM. So I go to my dealer to get the refill inserts (85223-0E011, and 85213-0E011). I get home and realize that these aren't a match for her RX350 as you can see from the pictures. So why do the Lexus wipers on my car not match with the refills and what other options do I have for wipers? Thanks

I called the parts department and the guy said the wiper blades that have replaceable inserts come on the vehicle from the factory. When those fail, you can either put in new refills or you can buy Lexus blades that have a rubber blade that isn't replaceable (they have the Lexus logo on them), and that was what was on my wife's car. So I was able to buy new blades with replaceable inserts (85212-0E081 and 85222-0E081) for about twice the price of the refills.

I just use the inserts on the stock Lexus blades that came on my 2020. The part numbers for mine are

85233 0E011 (driver)

85213 0E011 (passenger)

85214 0E050 (rear)

And they take about 5 minutes total to swap out. I do them about every 4 or 5 years and they work well. Just did inserts on my wife's 4Runner at the 4.5 year mark. Cheap and easy, and they work well.

Yeah, I tried to do the same and those are the parts numbers I purchased for the inserts. But they wouldn't fit my Lexus wiper blades. The Lexus parts department told me that mine had been replaced with Lexus "one and done" wiper arms that do not have replaceable inserts. So I had to purchase new wiper blades. So that I now can use the refill inserts again. These part numbers are:

85212-0E081 (right side) which use refill 085213-0E011
and
85222-0E081 (left side) which use refill 085223-0E011

That is exactly how my new ones look now that I replaced the Lexus "one and done" blades with the same ones that came on the vehicle when new. My wife purchased this one used and apparently they had replaced the entire blade instead of just the refill. Now I have the correct original blades and a set of refills for when they go bad.

Thanks.

Whats the long term verdict on cleaning ability? Refills and wiper blades take the same amount of effort, heck the refills take longer but overall is it any better then a say a decent pair of new blades?

I think that I started using inserts vs new blades only because of the cost (this was 40 years ago when I was a kid with no $$$). I think that my dad just replaced the inserts so I thought that is what you do. Inserts are about half the cost of full blade.
I just got used to replacing inserts.

My inserts last about 5 years and work well. Never noticed any difference in cleaning ability.

No wrong answer....inserts take 10 minutes to replace all three, and full blades take 5 minutes.

The dealer was charging $13 each for insert refills and $34 for the full blades (that can accept refills). He told me that they did not stock the Lexus blades that CAN'T be refilled, but he said they were around $24. The dealer said he also feels that the rubber in the refills is just a bit better than the $24 Lexus blades that can't be refilled.

I was at Wal-Mart and most of the blades there ranged from $18-$28. The problem I had with the Rain-X $28 Silicone blades is that they didn't fit so well into the arm on the on the RX350. After they were clipped in, you could move them in and out about 3/16". But in general I have found that silicon blades last longer than anything that uses regular rubber.

Last time I bought on Amazon and it worked out great. Installed all three myself in about five minutes. it took longer to figure out how to get the wipers to move out from their hiding place.

Yeah, I was considering going the Amazon route, but the rubber in one had completely failed and it was going to rain that evening. Also, with the Rain X wipers not being that great of a fit, I was concerned that I might have to do quite a bit of trial and error with returns to get something that worked well. But I did see a video where someone purchased some aftermarket ones on Amazon and they fit great.

The refills were only $8 each from Bell Lexus in Arizona. I bought them online when they offered free shipping.

What year and model is your Lexus? I have a 2022 RX450H. My driver side wiper needs replacing and from the dealer it is $92.14 CAD. I was looking at the Bosch Icon but not sure if it would work.
