Hi all !
Yesterday I had a "check fuel cap" message that popped up and went away. Which I did check, everything seemed ok. This morning a "Secondary Collision Break system Malfunction" and a "AWD System Malfunction 2WD Mode Engaged" message popped up along with the yellow check engine light.
Has any one else experienced this, and how was the situation remedied?
Car has about 60k km on it and it has been some what cold here -3 on some days. I live 1600km away from the nearest Lexus dealership. Thanks everyone.
When the check engine light is on, the support systems (collision mitigation and auto AWD) will be temporarily unavailable.
The "Check Gas Cap" message was an early warning indication of an evaporative emissions system leak. Recheck the fuel cap seal. After the problem is corrected, the check engine light should no longer be on after two days of driving.
Also check your 12 volt battery as when they begin to fail and have lower voltage it will trigger many apparently random warning lights and codes because everything is very sensitive to low voltage. Batteries are very sensitive to cold weather and that is often what it takes to make them fail. Your recent cold weather is a great indicator tthat it is likely your old battery. Note that even if somewhat new that any battery can fail at any time.

These days in the north east where it's 70 degrees one day and 20 the next really takes a toll on old batteries.
