my 01 Lexus IS 300 has recently giving the evap system code/check engine light. I replaced the fuel cap which seemed to be the easiest fix. I erased the code but the check engine light turned back on. Would anyone happen to know what could be causing this? Looked for cracked hoses near evap system but no luck. Would anyone recommend a good mechanic that could figure this out in souther California area near North San Diego?
Thanks for looking.
I believe I replaced the fuel cap twice with this issue, because I cheaped out and bought an autozone cap. I ordered another cap through lexus and that seemed to do the trick.
i would try gas cap first, if check engine light pops back up again, recommend taking to local repair shop and get smoke test done. toyota evap systems usually is charcoal canister. if im not mistaken, everything pretty much is built-in inside of the canister.
