I have a 2022 RX 350 with a problem I have not seen in the forums. When I pushed the close button on the bottom of the trunk lid, it went down about half way and then started beeping. I couldn't get the button to make it close so I closed it manually. When I got home I looked at it and discovered that the right tailgate lift motor had become disconnected from the body - it had popped off. I lifted the tailgate all the way up and was able to reconnect the motor. It worked fine for several openings but then it popped off again. I reconnected it and asked my wife not to use it unless she absolutely had to.
The cost of a new one from Lexus is $522. I have seen in the forums where other brands, e.g., Strongman, are good replacements. Thanks to some excellent videos and writeups I found in this forum, I think I can install a replacement myself. My 4-year warranty expired about 7 weeks ago. I am not aware that we ever attempted to close the liftgate when something was in the way that prevented it from closing.
I am wondering if there is something I can do other than replace the motor. I have not pulled the wire clip out. Is it possible to get a replacement clip and try that for a while? The motor part # is 689100E080. I can't find that part at liftsupportsdepot. If I have to replace it, where do you suggest I check for a new motor?
I love this car. First problem I have had. All advice is appreciated!! Thanks.
