Default 2017 RX450 Hybrid problems

Hello! I am seeking some advice on 2017 RX450 Hybrids. I am considering purchasing one with low miles that has been religiously maintained by a Lexus dealer; however, "Consumer Reports does not recommend that particular year and more concerning, rates it much less reliable than the three years preceding and following it. Further, those other years are recommended. Please bear in mind that I don't "live and die" by "Consumer Reports," but do believe they are objective and provide information with some basis in fact. Any assistance from someone familiar with any issues/experience with the 2017 model year hybrid will be sincerely appreciated. Thank you.

CR shows 2017 and 2019 as having poor reliability in the area of "fuel system/emissions" - which includes "Sensors (O₂, or oxygen, sensor), emission-control devices (includes EGR), fuel-injection system, fuel gauge/sender, fuel pump, problems filling up the tank". In addition, the 2017 is also "in the red" for brakes.

If I google "what are reliability problems with a 2017 lexus rx-450h" I get back this: "
Issues with the fuel pump impeller cracking and the low-pressure pump failing have been reported, along with fuel gauge inaccuracies." AND "Premature wear or pulsation, and issues with the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) actuator."

Hope that helps.

Just say no to hybrids and EVs. Keep things simple and proven with a gas only car. These technologies were not developed because people proved they wanted them....they were developed so manufacturers could avoid fines and penalties from authorities for new CAFE and global sustainability and climate change hogwash.

I have a 2017 RX450H that I purchased on late 2016. Over 90K miles and had no real issues, just regular maintenance costs (tires, oil, brake fluids, brake pads, etc.) Still on original battery. There were a few recalls and TSBs and those were addressed on the first three years.

This hybrid has been a great mileage saver and has more power than the gasoline counterpart that I have had on loaners. I normally get 29-33 MPG. It is very quiet and has a very smooth transmission. Would not ever go back to gasoline. Looking forward to an EV version in the future.

Our 2017 RX450h just hit 140k with basic maintenance. Just did brakes for the first time. The rotors and pads were still good. No issues with the hybrid battery yet. Our previous 2010 RX450h went to 210k on the original battery before it was sold.

140k on the brakes? Not bad.

As long as all the recalls have been done with the 2016 - There are no issues. None of those recalls are to do with the hybrid system.

Spark plugs will be a pain when it's time to do the spark plugs due to the EGR system.

It was not a fun job but honestly not that bad. I did them at 120k and they didn’t look that bad when I removed them. My only concern with this car is the brake actuator. It is making noise but braking fine. I’m past the mileage for the recall for that.

Put the nutter crackpipe down. Toyota Hybrids are tried and true and just as reliable as their pure combustion counterparts. The best part of having a hybrid? Not having to go to the pump as much.
Toyota / Lexus cant make them fast enough, and that's the way the market has been heading this decade.
