Saw a large crack on the trailing arm passenger side. But since it's still under warranty, let them handle it.

Timestamp 1:42 where you are touching but on the top left.

ok at that timestamp, I see what you may think is a crack, but I believe it is coating from the bushing onto that metal cross piece that bolts to the frame. I'll recheck when the car gets back home shortly to confirm.

Either way, I have sent the video to my dealer and plan to take the car in tomorrow for further diagnosis.

Overall, I take it that clunk isn't normal in the first part of video, correct? I see that the "clunk" happens when the strut / spring compresses on the driver's side and appears to be louder on the driver's side.

No clunk is normal obviously. But yes, why diagnose it when it still under warranty. Just let them handle it. They would need to inspect the suspension.

Agreed. Thanks a bunch for sharing your thoughts on this. Not all Lexus dealers are the same but this one I deal with in North Houston is legit.

I know the issue. I did some regreasing the back of the pads, shims and the contact points of the caliper and the shims (mistake to grease where the piston and the caliper touches the shims). When you grease where the caliper touches the shims, and you brake, they slip as the car stops and it makes noise. After cleaning off the grease from those contact points, when braking normally, it no longer makes that clunk noise.

That's odd because I've been greasing metal to metal contacts forever and never had this problem. I grease the face of the piston and calipers' ears. It is not suppose to slip.

Agreed. I did it on my Toyota Tundra and also on our 2015 RX and not an issue. Only appears to make any noise now when we brake hard, so until we need to take it in for another warranty item, I'm going to move along for now. I will have it looked at before warranty expires in June, however.

I have noted that the piston design is different on the 4th gen vs 3rd gen. Another reason I'm not that concerned is I don't feel anything in the steering wheel (I know we are talking back suspension, but still), I don't hear anything when pushing down on the back bumper hard, nor hear anything when pushing the car forward while in park without the parking break engaged and nothing when using a pry bar to move the wheel up and down when jacked up a bit and putting upward pressure on the wheel. No play when doing 3 and 9 and Noon and 6 push pull test on the tire.

Yeah I don't plan to take it there for a while unless something else arises.
