Default 2016 rx350 oil pan

Long story short I went to change my oil and found my drain plug was cross threaded, I was able to somewhat get it all back together using JB as a temp fix but she has a small leak now

I am now researching on how to change the oil pan, I did a search on here and couldn’t find much specific to 4th gen. I found some highlander based vids that could work and one of CCN dropping the engine for a timing cover leak repair.

I am thinking of just using CCNs video to get an idea of what I’m in for with the pan itself but I just wanted to start a post incase anyone on here has gone through the motions and perhaps has a video/some tips for me before I tackle this project

As far as the part itself goes I am looking a ordering a Dorman replacement and using rtv from rock auto unless I’m guided otherwise by the knowledge members on here

Thanks in advance !

edit: I just found this video from 1A for a Camry, is it safe for me to assume it’s the same process as the engine codes are the same ?

Rethreading the drain hole would be a lot easier, no?

Yes. Take it to a machine shop and see if they can rethread it. You might get lucky.

I was thinking with the way I used JB to putty a seal around the plug that I’ve gone past that point but I will look into it, thanks for the input

I see what you’re saying however I used a decent amount of JB to seal around the plug, also I’d have to drop the pan anywho to take it to a machine shop so I’m thinking it’d be easier
to just go one for one replacement?

I will explore this thought though and call some machine shops during the week, your idea seems like it’d save me a decent amount of coin. thanks for the input

if you have the pan off, just replace it.
you could also get a timesert kit and fix it that way, i've done a ton. did you get JBweld on the inside? that could be a problem, you don't want it breaking off and getting into the pickup tube.

Just get a Fumoto valve and put some sealant on the threads when you put it in.
