I'm hoping there is someone here with some knowledge of how to upgrade navigation maps. Mine does not contain many streets I've requested and my Lexus service dept says there is no update.
Excellent video on the subject, licensing cost for the map data SD chip was accurate as mentioned, $210. Checked and found that the currently available version will update to 2023 - roads and Points of Interest.
The version shipped with the 2019 RX would show a 2018 copyright date so you will gain 5 years...no more Circuit City stores
Note: this will update the map data but will have no effect on colors or screen appearance or seek times, just the data.
I ordered PT210-GEN09-23 from my Lexus dealership. $226 including tax. Installed in 10 minutes w/o issue. Guy at the parts counter STRONGLY suggested disconnecting any USB cables before starting. Sounded weird but OK.
So would I, but those of us with 2016-2019 RX don’t have carplay without going aftermarket, adding hardware, and likely mixed results.
Even the aftermarket is worth the cost and it's not much more. If you care about a lifetime updated map. Sooner or later this Lexus Maps will need to be updated again. In addition, google maps, waze and apple map all have live updates of traffic, police, pot holes and etc. Lexus maps is just consider dated.

The 2020 and up RX have Apple Car Play and Android Auto.

Yep. My 2021 RX has the latest navigation update and still doesn't recognize streets in subdivisions which have been there for over 30 years. At another time while traveling across Ohio on the turnpike the navigation instructed me to exit onto a rest stop and take the vendor service entrance, (used by vendors who supply the rest stop). By the way, that vendor entrance is blocked to all non-vendor traffic.
It's frustrating on such a nice car. I've dealt with it by using alternate services like MapQuest or Google Maps and just forgetting about the onboard navigation. At least when I paid extra for navigation, I also got a larger 12.3-inch screen and a radio with 12 instead of 9 speakers.
