Does the 2018 RX350 have any type of warning system to let owners know when the brake pads need to be replaced? The dealer is saying there is no warning system whatsoever and I find this shocking on a modern car.
Each year I take the RX in for an annual inspection and I always inquire about the thickness of the pads. They have to check them as part of the routine.
... my pads are just over 65,000 miles and have a ton of life left on them.
I take that back. Rear brakes started squealing a little last week.
Just did rear brakes on my RX with 68100 miles/4 years on them. Somewhat surprised that the rears were worn more than the fronts. I was down to 2 - 3 mm on all pads. I check the caliper pins regularly so it wasn't a case of dragging pads. I am pretty sure that the fronts have plenty of life, but I am doing some other work in a month or so when I hit 70,000 miles, so I will check fronts and do if necessary.
Now that I am retired my mileage went from almost 30k per year to about 10k. Decided to do OEM pads and rotors since this should not be a regular event. When I was doing 30k per year it seemed like I was always doing brakes.
I have the 2020, so the emergency brake retraction is a built in procedure that does not require a battery to retract....just a sequence of steps. Viktor video does a great job walking you through the whole job. Easy job on a nice warm winter day in New England....hit 60 degrees today!
