Adding idol on the dashboard
Hi All,
Not a very standard question, I like to add a idol (deity idol) on my RX350 dashboard but seems it's not holding. I tried the 3M tape and it seems to be working fine on the Idol but not holding on the dashboard. I like to put this on the driver side but all variaions of the 3M seems not holding on the dashboard. Any suggestion how I can glue it without making any impact to the dashboard?

Over the years we have added various things to the dash on our business vehicles. Employees wanted to add holders to the dash for their cell phones or to clip things to the dash. Some adhesives worked better than others, even the heavy duty double sided tape worked well. However, everything that was used did leave a permanent mark on the dash. Even if it was just a lack of fading, it left a mark.

Make yourself a small bracket from 22 or 24 gauge aluminum and bend it to attach to the lower part of your windshield. Screw in or glue the idol to the bracket then use special adhesive to attach the bracket to the windshield. Use your imagination, keeping it as simple as possible. Space the bottom of your new assembly slightly above the dash to prevent any damage. There are numerous sources for special windshield glue on the internet, here is one example: https://www.autozone.com/sealants-gl...5oz/464397_0_0
I used a windshield double stick adhesive to mount my dashcam. It's been in my car for 2yrs and never come off.
This would be easier to remove than something on your dash. You would have to look for some kind of mount though..
