Default Front caliper bottom slide pin should it move?

I’m cleaning up the brakes and noticed the bottom slide pin, one with bushing rotates but does not slide in and out like the top one.

Is that expected? It was hard to get the pin out and back in again.

manual says bushing is replaceable but seems in good shape. Just trying to understand if it’s not intended to slide out much like typical pin.

The rubber donger tends to swell I replace them. Recommend you use this grease

Rubber seemed ok but on the same line I bet the bushings may swell a bit too. Looks like it is replaceable. Thanks!

For reference at ~140K mi all sliding pins on all 4 sides were significantly sticky (stuck). Rotors are all at new spec still and pads are less than 1/4 used on all sides. This is turning into a giant cleaning and relubing exercise.

If I were to do this again I'd get all new rubber boots & bushings all the way around.

The rear caliper sliding pins on my 2013 Subaru Outback 3.6R have those same lousy rubber sleeves that tend to swell over time. Most members on the Outback forum I utilize wind up removing those rubber sleeves and not replacing them (including me when I installed new rear brake pads last year). The calipers continue to function properly without the sleeves and no noise is audible during braking. If the rubber sleeves on my wife's 2015 RX350 ever swell on me, off they go.

I treat the rubber slide bushings and boots as a replacement item when doing pads/rotors. I've also replaced all my pins once in the life of the car so far. I think I did them around 130-150k miles.
