Default VLEDS V6 Extreme Reverse Light System initial impressions

The High Output White 6 LED 921 from VLEDS worked really well for me so when it when it came time to replace them I figured I would give the V6 Extreme Reverse Light System a shot. Initial impression is that they aren't worth the cost and are less effective than the High Output LEDs that they replaced. Installation of the V6 isn't terrible but it's much more of a hassle than a standard bulb as it's intended to be a universal fit so you have to screw in 2 or 3 screws, possibly use a collar (not needed with the 3RX), find the right gasket & attach, attach the base adapter, confirm correct polarity, and then heat the heat shrink tubing over the base adapter.

I was surprised given the positive feedback on the V6 out there but the housing/reflector on our 3RXs are probably the biggest limiting factor. I'll see if VLEDS has any suggestions on possibly improving output but I don't really see anything at this point. Hopefully they'll let me swap out for the High Output White 6 LED 921s.

Should have installed just one alongside the High Output LED that was still working for comparison but didn't think of that before I installed both V6s and I wasn't going to cut off the heat shrink tubing.

Yeah, these are going back. In the process of installing the working High Output LED along with its dead counterpart I found that both were working so this this was a waste of time. Should have checked before deciding to replace.

VLEDS did ask for a photo of the socket to see if there was a depth issue but the socket is a standard Toyota part used in many other vehicles as well. From what I understand the V3 was adjustable which might have been able to help with this sort of issue. However, it sounds like the V3 was bigger which would be interesting as the V6 isn't small.

I don't spend enough time going in reverse to justify such expensive bulbs. I don't cheap out on headlights and fog lights but for reverse i use something that looks decent on amazon and swap out if they go bad. Just my .2
