I am the new owner of this vehicle. This is my 1st lexus. I want to replace the head unit with a more modern android auto car play unit. I went to an audio installer and he said they don't make a dash kit for my double din unit. I find it difficult to accept dash kits stopped being made for my specific year. What type of solutions do you recommend to successfully achieve installation of this new unit? I am new to aftermarket installs. Let me know all the needed pieces to make this work such as suggested android auto unit, dash kit, additional wiring harness, etc. I plan to take it to an installer oppose to doing it myself. I don't know why the guy was so discouraging. I feel like there is always a solution to a problem. Thank you for your help. This is picture of my dash.
Welcome to CL. What you want to do has been asked about already. Read this linked thread and then try some more searching yourself for more information.
This is 3 years of a reply. So I've found a 9" display that operate on android auto 13.0. I'm really intrigued because experiencing Apply CarPlay showed me that it is extremely convenient as a driving OS. I hope you can do it yourself and let me know if you do.
Check with BeatSonic & Grom, both are a bit expensive.
You can check out android ADD ON systems [full blown computer with display] to augment/stand-alone and not replace your display. You will have to rely on most likely un-supported hardware.
You try one of the off brand android radio units marketed for the RX350 that replaces the stock display screen, but they are generally not an easy DIY install and could be unreliable with the cheaper ones.

I’ve been using it for about a month and am happy with it overall. It has a few glitches and looks a bit clunky sitting up on the dash but it saves tearing the dash apart and risking losing OEM functions. And the price doesn’t break the bank.
