10' RX350 (AL10) Air Suspension to Coilovers swap?
Hi there guys,
I have finally found my dream RX350 from year 2010. 110K miles, properly maintained. President trim. The only thing that worries me - the air suspension. I will be driving in 7 to 10K miles per year max, so investment in expensive fix-ups on the air suspension makes no sense to me.
I have read about successful swaps from air suspension to coilovers on the older generation. However, is that possible with the 3rd one (AL10)? I have found little to no info. I guess there is no difference between RX350 and RX450h.
I have looked through the forum but will be happy to get updated info, if there is any.
BR,
Vlad.

This feature is so rare that I do not even recall anyone posting about their RX with an air suspension in the last few years.
I think your best bet may be to find an independent Toyota/Lexus specialist who can inspect the suspension to see what parts are unique to the air suspension and what would be needed to convert to normal springs with struts in front and shocks in the rear.
Since the 3rd generation RX has been around for over 10 years you should have no problem obtaining some of the parts such as rear hubs with spring mounts from a wrecking yard if possible to save money. The 2nd generation Toyota Highlander and Sienna have the same front suspension as the RX which will make it easier to find new or used parts.
Never heard of President trim level. What country are you in? Austria?

I am actually going to call Lexus just now and ask them if they know if such a swap is theoretically possible.
I am in Austria. The car has Webasto installed too. It set the owner back some 2200EUR back in the days. I am uploading some pictures for you to get a better idea of the trim.

I’d do ANYTHING to have those options in the US. HUD, adaptive cruise, and Rear entertainment are so so rare. I don’t think air suspension exists here at all. I’d keep it but to each his own.

I agree, if it still works, leave it alone. However, being prepared and learning what is needed to convert it if and when it breaks is a good idea.
