Tire Pressure Warning Light on after inflating
I have a 2010 RX350. A few days ago the tire pressure light came on. When I checked the pressure, all of them were properly inflated, and one was very very slightly low. I inflated all of them just to be sure, but the tire pressure light did not turn off. Whenever I drive, the light flashes for a while, then stays on.
I did some online searches and it looks like this could mean there is a problem with them tire pressure sensor. There aren't any dealers in my area for Lexus. Any advice? Is the repair difficult/expensive, or any place where I can research it?
thank you
This happened to me on my HS250h last year, but the original TPMS on my RX is still working.
You need to replace the entire TPMS unit on all 4 tires and the folks who do this then need to program them to your vehicle. The programming takes 10 minutes. Installing them means removing the tires. I found the cheapest cost was at Costco at around $240 for all 4. If you buy tires at the same time the TPMS price drops because the labor costs go down due to the tire replacement.
The highest price I found was my local independent, who is expensive, but very competent at $550. It is almost worth joining Costco for a year at $45 just to get the TPMS deal, or tires too if you need them.
Good Luck!
There is a button above the brake pedal, if you press it and hold it will force the system to recheck.
For me if the tire pressure goes down, the light comes up and even if I inflate the the tires, it is still there.
I can see on the dashboard the correct tire pressure, but the light is still there, so simply holding the button for 3 seconds, does solve the problem for me.
Found a video that shows how to do it.
