Navigation / heads up display has gone black
The navigation screen of my 2013 RX450h has suddenly gone black and every minute or so it briefly flashes, "Checking map disk in progress. Please wait a moment."
I can't use the radio, the rear/back-up camera or any of the heads up display functions.
So far, I've tried:
- Disconnecting & reconnecting the car battery
- Checking the fuse that controls these things (it's fine)
- Pushing & holding the radio on/off dial (it makes a "reboot noise" but the screen remains black)
Any ideas, folks?
I bought the car used with 52k miles and it's now just under 70k miles, so it's out of warranty.
Thanks for your help...

My wife's 2006 Jaguar XK8 had this problem a few months ago during one initial morning start-up. The well-publicized fix for this on the Jaguar forum is to perform a hard reset. That means disconnecting both battery cables and touching them together for at least 30 seconds in an effort to fully discharge all capacitors in the electrical system. That indeed fixed this issue on her car.

OP has already done the hard reset as stated in his post. 12v system is the 12v system ... how it gets charged is different in hybrid and how it gets used during ICE start is different.
The only question is if the 12v disconnect and reconnect was done with a long enough interval [I would suggest 15~20 minutes]. Hit the brake light or try to blow the horn to ensure discharge while the battery terminal is removed may help reduce the wait time.
Beyond that, I think it needs to be seen by dealer or some one who knows the electronics of the RX. Another approach may be swapping parts, but I would let the diagnosis be done by folks with knowhow, experience and test equipment.
