Hey everyone...
just picked up a 2010 rx350 for the family.
and the back compartments for the driver and passenger seat are not staying up. Any suggestions on how to fix to stay closed

Must be a very rare issue. Give it more time for someone who has also experienced this problem to reply to you.

 

It's hard to tell from the pictures what's wrong. Or what's not staying up.

 

They probably jammed too much stuff back there and broke the spring or whatever it is at the bottom that holds it flat against the seat back.
You can replace the back panel which contains that part and folks are selling them on eBay. The prices are all over the place from $38 for an ivory one to a bunch for $124. Search RX350 seat back panel OEM. It may be a good idea to pay a car upholstery shop to install it for you.

Or get some velcro strips where you peel off the back which is sticky and insert them inside the seat panel and hope that will hold it in place.

 

That entire seat back seems snapped on to the back. The plastic part. Pulling it out may lead you to changing the bands responsible for flexibility.

 

I like the velcro suggestion. That would be my initial attempt to fix this issue. We never store anything in the seatback pockets of any of our vehicles, so keeping those pockets permanently closed at low cost would be my goal.

 

Just found a link in the DIY section.
it was under DVD headrest install. Member removed the back seat panel. So I'm going to start when I have time. Hopefully it's a quick fix

 

so I fixed the issue. Pretty simple and fast did both side in about 8min. The elastic was stretched out so I just zipped tied both end together in the back. Now they are looking good and my kids aren't using them as foot rest anymore lol

 

Hi, I have a 2010 Lexus rx 350 and today I went behind the seat and found the panel that holds things in the back has been snapped and broken. I’m heart broken and don’t know how to fix it so it doesn’t look as bad. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

 

My fix…two screws hold back panel on. Remove them and pull out, then pull whole panel down. There is a cover over screws. Just unhook fabric. My elastic had stretched so just connected two ends with zip tie. Good luck.
