Default B1650 code

Greetings,

Hoping someone can help me out here. On a road trip last weekend I had to unfortunately unbuckle from the passenger seat on the highway at 70mph and climb into the back to tend to a child. There was no accident or swift maneuvers. All was OK as we kept traveling but the airbag light came on on the dash about this time with a yellow triangle and the words "check SRS system airbag". I assume this occured from my actions while the car was moving.

I purchased a new scan tool innova 5610 as I was told it could clear the code . The code comes up B1650 occupant classification system malfunction 2 codes of this. The tool clears it but it comes right back. I checked all wiring under the seat and unplugged the battery with no change.

How can I clear this code without going to the dealer? I have seen other scan tools and videos that clear this particular code that run diagnostics but they are over 1k. Maxisys ms906 is one of them.

Could a version of Toyota techstream fix this?

Thanks for any help
Sean

Probabaly just needs to recalibrate the occupant detection sensor for that seat.
Techstream should be able to perform this if thats the case.

I just ordered an OBD2/USB cable with Techstream on Amazon ($60) to play with that is the "updated version" compatible with 64 bit Windows.
The updated version is supposed to work with 64 bit Windows 7 & 10 and it costs a few bucks more, but it would be worth it.
My sons experience with Win 10 is it's a bit annoying to work with and get apps to install, but eventually things will work.

@KPH65 thanks for sharing that info.

After purchasing a mini-vci cable J2534 and installing the software to go with it I was able to get techstream up and running after some time. Techstream really is amazing stuff all of the things you can look at and read within the car. I highly recommend it if you dont have it.

I was able to recalibrate the passenger seat sensor and was a good thing I had some old weights around because I had to have between 59 and 70 lbs on the seat for resetting it. Really amazing that the program gives you real time weight on the seat!

Reset the code after calibracing the sensor and all is good.
