Cost for 90K maintenance
Just got the 90K maintenance done. Cost reasonable? Did I miss anything?
stuff required:
oil and filter change
engine air filter change
front transaxle fluid drain and fill
brake fluid flush
cabin air filter change
rotated tires (over 50% remaining on tread)
checked brake pad thickness - 60% remaining (hybrid car)
Checked 12 volt battery health (perfect condition)
Total was $344.
Stuff not required:
Redline engine cleaner $15
4 new bolts on the wheels $16 -
got rid of the stupid wheel locks (who wants to steal my lexus oem wheels?) no more wheel lock keys to carry around.
Archoil Engine Oil Additive - 1/4 of $44 bottle cost. - Complete placebo effect I kind of enjoy

That is a reasonable cost for a Lexus dealer to perform those tasks. You got a lot done for a lot less than the dealers around here would charge!
I would consider throwing a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner in the gas tank, but you can buy that stuff at any auto parts store.
I trust they checked for codes and the status of the hybrid battery.
Besides checking the pads, they should have cleaned and lubricated the caliper guide pins which are often overlooked and as the lubricant dries up can make your caliper stick, cause vibrations and even cause frozen calipers. I had one so frozen I had to replace the caliper base as it could not be removed.
It is at 100,000 that your coolants need changing, both engine and hybrid cooling system.

Hey guys,
I got a 2010 Lexus RX350 AWD with 90K miles
Should I do the following:
1. transfer case
2. differential
3. transmission
4. brake fluid
5. coolant
6. spark plugs
7. oil change
8. cabin filter
9. air filter
How much should this cost at an independent mechanic? At a toyota dealership?
Thanks in advance

Please look at the thin [in the set] service and warranty manual for the recommended service items. If the vehicel has been under Lexus care, they would have followed the recommended procedure. Owner has the option to skip/defer/ignore/improve/over_achieve etc. [Please read up the discussion on transmission/differential as opinions vary. Read and make your own choice].
Cost differs from region to region and based on which fluids you use, they can differ drastically. Best suggestion I can make is simply pick up the phone and call Lexus service dept and get a ball park number over the phone.

Hi all,
Our 2013 RX is finally at 90k miles. I am trying to plan out the upcoming service but I see different opinions between the manual/forum. I was definitely going to do:
oil change
tire rotation
brake fluid flush
what I am not sure about is rear differential/transfer case. the manual only recommends it to be changed for "severe" driving, which is the exact opposite of the life my RX lives. I will be taking it to my local shop so price is not really a huge factor but I also don't want to do it unless it is really "necessary." What do you guys think? Important to do now at 90k, wait till later, or skip completely? Thanks!

Fresh fluid is always a good idea as long as the job is done properly with the correct fluid. And believe it or not, most vehicles qualify for the "severe" driving category due primarily to the amount of time spent in stop-and-go traffic.
Hi Guys - Had a quick question - My car is due for 90k service and i wanted to check what all essential items i should do in the service.
1. My vehicle has only had regular oil changes and only front brake pads replacement so what all things i should do? 60k service lists quite a few things(spark plugs etc) which i never replaced so was wondering if that is necessary.
Car runs great.
Also i am in the Austin area and was wondering if you guys could suggest a reliable mechanic as i want to avoid the dealer.
Thanks,
Aviatorash

Here is an older thread on this exact subject which discusses things to be performed at the 90K service.
Spark plugs are good for at least 120,000 miles. That is when Lexus says to change them. Others have gone longer with no ill effect and found they looked good at 150,000.
I recommend changing the transmission fluid along with all the stuff listed in the link.

Here are 8 shops around Austin that work on Toyota/Lexus with great ratings from the CarTalk radio show listeners mechanics files. One is a dealer so ignore that one, the rest independents. Cross check them on Google/Yelp for more current ratings.https://www.cartalk.com/mechanics-files/search?keyword=&field_makes_tid=53359&city=austin&state=TX&radius%5Bsearch_units%5D=mile&radius%5Bpostal_code%5D=&radius%5Bsearch_distance%5D=10&sort_order=ASC
