Default 2011 RX450h - windshield replacement - radio issues

XM is losing signal (no obstructions)
FM was unable to find any stations for an hour or so
windshield was done 2 weeks ago, just starting to notice the radio issues
aftermarket windshield - insurance co wouldn't do OEM
just a coincidence or is the windshield replacement the blame

You should contact the glass company and your insurance company with your complaints. Either the new windshield is defective or they failed to connect it properly.
I have had my windshield replaced twice, both aftermarket windshields and have never had any radio issues.

The only way I can see this being windshield related is if the seal is leaking down behind the dash and shorting something. And in that case, I would not expect the radio reception to be the big ticket issue, especially since the XM antenna is located outside the car and the radio antenna is on the rear window.

Do we have antenna of any sort embedded in the windshield?

I realize XM is in the dash
I thought the AM/FM was in the window
haven't had any issues over the past few days
the FM station may have been off the air
just never had XM issues, especially with a clear view to the south

The windshield wiper de-icer grid runs inside and across the bottom of the windshield and is hidden by the darkened portion of the glass.. I assume your aftermarket windshield has the grid and that the technician plugged it in. .
