2012 RX350. When I press the button inside the car or on the key fob the back hatch opens automatically, When I open it by using the latch on the hatch itself it does NOT auto-open, I have to manually push it up. Is that the correct behavior or is it defective?

 

My 2011 does the same thing . I also would like to know if there is a setting that can be changed to make it automatic .

 

That is normal. When you open the hatch manually, the door works manually. There is no mixed mode.
