Default Weird engine noise at post start up idle...

Hello, hope everyone is doing well. My mother owns a 2014 RX 350 and she has been sending me video clips of a noise her engine is making a startup. The car is maintained at the Lexus dealer (oil changes) and has approximately 57,500 miles. I have attached two video clips of this noise (please use headphones to listen) the sound will be much clearer. I've read around and have seen forum state it is several different issues to the sound being normal. I check the engine oil and it was a the correct level. She has owned this car for about a year now and this is the first time she has noticed this sound enough to record it and send the videos to me. Thank you for your assistance. She is taking it to the dealer on Friday morning, it is still within the 72 month powertrain warranty.

Maybe you could post what the dealer tells her after they look at it. Way too many variables to determine anything from a couple of sound bites. Hopefully the dealer will address the problem for her.

Unless the noise is more obvious in person, if it goes away after a couple minutes driving and the engine runs fine other than that, it's likely the mechanic/dealer with say "normal" and dust-off his hands. It is hard to tell, but it does sound a little like mine when cold, which I attribute to piston slap. Apparently the pistons in these engines are very short / low mass which is great for efficiency but lets them move around a bit more when under lite loads/idle when the engine is cold and no thermal expansion has taken place (which may get more noticeable as the engine loosens with age).

But there is no substitute for being there in person with your head under the hood.

I wonder if it is the same situation as this thread:
