Default Why are some cargo floors raised on the RX?

I am looking at some cargo bay covers on eBay, and noticed in the pictures that the floor area appears to be raised.

Why is the floor raised on this RX model?

The eBay listing can be found here:

It's to accommodate a full spare underneath the cargo area. We don't get one in the US.

Here in Canada, we also don't get a full spare, just a compact spare aka donut. At least the cargo floor is flush.

On a side note, those rear seat head rests looks quite compact. For me I have to fully remove the head rest so the rear seats fold forward to create a flush cargo space.

Personally, I would love to get the raised floor components and convert my cargo area to house a full-size spare, but I'm pretty sure that all the parts would run north of $1000, and it's just not worth it to me. Just the floor cover for the full-size spare is nearly $700, and that, I don;t believe, includes the perimeter supporting components or the plastic back edge trim near the liftgate threshold.

Remove? You must have the front seats in a very reclined position. I know it's bit snug on mine, the headrests rub the back of the front seats a bit, but not enough to prevent the rear seats from folding.

You're probably right. Oh well, not the worst thing in the world. I don't carry much stuff that requires the seats down. Not to mention there are two car seats back there so I do everything possible to avoid having to disassemble everything.

Ah, finally found an existing thread that has a picture of the full spare:
