The drivers side Lexus all weather mat does a terrible job protecting the carpet. The main objective is to not let dirt and slush contact the carpet. You would think Lexus would make a better mat for coverage.

I'm one of the minority who don't like weather tech laser cut mats. They are not as pliable as real rubber mats and don't absorb any moisture. I like this particular model.https://www.lloydmatsstore.com/luxe-floor-mats
The pile is thick enough that moisture gets trapped in the carpet and don't dirty up other areas. it also dries quicker as the actual dirt sort of stays on top of the pile while the moisture seeps inside. In a polyurethane or ABS material (plastic mats), the dirt and water are stuck together sloshing around the feet area attaching itself to anything that makes contact.

another things with weather tech mats I don't like that they curl up and twist with CA's hot weather.
