AFAIK, BSM is Blind Spot Monitor. There is no reason why a problem with that system should prevent your vehicle from starting.

When do you see the BSM message- when you push the start button? How long have you had this starting problem? Does the engine crank when you push the button? Maybe you have a weak battery. Have you tried jump-starting it? If that doesn't work, you have to get it towed to a dealer or a good indy shop for diagnosis. Good luck!

I have had this problem several times and was very frustrated. What I found is the battery is getting used and not being recharged fully. So I attached a charger to it and let it slowly recharged overnight. Once I did this and the battery was fully charged, I have not had a no start BSM error since. Give it a try!

What is the system voltage with the engine running at idle?
If it's not around 13.2-13.5v the alternator is not properly charging the battery.
With the engine off it should read around 12.2-12.4v.
Check the battery connections for corrosion.

thanks, the connections are just fine, no corrosion. Will have to look into charging voltage. Did not think of that.
