I can understand the anxiety, but the bump does nothing.

For folks who have not read your post, it shows up as another unread post and the for the folks who have read it, if they had something to contribute, they would have.

The only time the bump can do anything is when there have been quite a few posts and the any one new to the forum choses to start reading from current to old .. [based on the activity here most likely a month]

If you are desperate and are ready to take ANY input then feel free to update.

If you allow me to provide ANY input:
Try searching for sites which offer audio mail in repair. They will have procedures posted how to remove and send them the unit for repair.

For pricing you can call your local Lexus dealer and also check the online catalog offered by dealers like Lexus of South Atlanta. Just be prepared to pay $$$$ When you are paying that much for the parts, I would suggest pay the 120 or so for the labor and have some one to stand behind the repair.

As far as I know, there is no security code built in the audio components

Lexus dealer is asking 465$ for refurbished part and 145$ labor.
im in canada and i couldnt find an amp repair shop online..
the reason im asking for the part number is because the lexus catalogue is showing me 6 or 7 model.

The only information that you should trust is by taking your vin # to a Lexus dealership. As you said there are multiple options.

Hope this helps

I think the amp is under the rear cargo area floor. It is easy to lift up the floor cover and check. Also https://www.lexussouthatlantaparts.com/ has a parts catalog with drawings so you can find what it looks like and maybe where it is located.
I think others tried to repair it and had no luck as no wiring diagrams are available. There were prior threads on this issue.
Good Luck.

Looking at both my vehicle and this link https://www.lexussouthatlantaparts.c...category=21749 (which is for a Canada car, I do not know if yours is Canada or Japan built, but they are similar) It appears you can get to some bolts from the spare tire area, but also need to remove the passenger side rear seat bottom to get to the rest of the bolts. Considering all this, if the dealer only wants $145 labor, I would go ahead and let them do it.

Yes i have the canadian built one. the problem is not the 145$ for labor but rather the 465+tax for the refurbished part lol.
my car still have warranty until april 2018 but the amp is not covered. anyway tomorow im gonna call lexus canada and see if they can help me.
ive had the car for less then 30 day and its so frustrating having to pay 750$ (145 diagnostic + 465 amp + 145 labor ) for a stupid radio part lol

Just price out the Amp. You may find out that the what the dealer is asking for may not be too far off from what you can get one for.

Price wise you are getting a better deal.

Did the radio die soon after you bought the vehicle and it was sold to you as "AS IS"?

What does the sales person has to say?

Not answered ... "As Is" or implied or better still written warranty/gaurantee.

Is the vehicle under manufacturers warranty? Only then Lexus of USA would be under any obligation.

Did you look up the service records? If the amp was replaced/serviced before?

-The original owner of the car bought 8 yr warranty. So the car is still covered by lexus until april 2018. i think its the gold plan. the entertainment system/radio are not covered.
-Car was sold as is from a Toyota dealer. They didnt know that it was still covered
In Quebec, for any purchase "The law provides a warranty on the goods you are purchasing or leasing: they must serve for normal use for a reasonable length of time."
Usually its 30 day for car.I couldnt get the service record. They said Its confidential bla bla bla and the previous owner must approve.
