I purchased a 2011 RX350 with navigation for my wife recently. She cleaned the screen with water and soft microfiber cloth.

She noticed some scratches after and is not sure if they were existing or she made them. Anyway to remove them?

Does the screen have an antiglare coating?

She is thinking that a screen protector may be the way to go.

Advice needed.

On my 10 RX there is a cover over the navigation screen since the screen is not a touchscreen. It is not a flush cover, it is actually quite far out from it and it's made from the same polycarbonate(?) As the instrument panel cover on the RX and some other cars I've owned. They're all terrible and scratch if you look at them cross eyed. My 2013 and 2017 Passat are the same way. I would just live with it, like I said it's not a touchscreen so it shouldn't get much wear. Putting a cover on now will only memorialize the current scratches for future progeny. Next time you go to clean it, you can use a wet cloth or microfiber and "dab" at it, trying to get the dirt to stick to the wet cloth. Since there isn't any movement side to side or up and down, there should be no risk of scratching

 

I'd try a small amount of clear plastic cleaner & polish, like Maguiar's PlastX. I've used that on headlights, tail lights, and other plastic surfaces every once in awhile and it removes fine scratches. You definitely don't want a screen protector! Water and soft microfiber cloth would not cause scratches unless the cloth was dirty with something to cause them, they were probably already there.

 

Yep. My solution was to stop cleaning it. Mine doesn't really get dirty anyway since it is never touched. Maybe dusty, but that can be blown off without touching.
