Found something on the driver's side floor
I will try to get photos to post later, but this AM, I found a gasket or seal or something? Seemed to be about 1 1/2 inches long, black shiny rubbery, likely vinyl, tapers on one end and flat top on the other about 1/2 inch wide, and split down the side - as if a good chunk had been removed from it. My vehicle is a 2015 RX 350 - under 10k miles.
I know, photo's will help I will try to add them tonight.
Also there is an intermittent plastic sounding rattle in the dash - driver's side (I think) from time to time, I try to replicate it and sometimes I am successful. From time to time, when going over the same rough pavement it won't rattle - making me think maybe it's coming from the storage bin or something - like from a gum container or change purse - my wife keeps in there. Then at other times it's back.
If you have any thoughts or tips on that - I'd like to know.
Thanks!

So, photos are attached. I added a couple standard things so people might get an idea of the size. A small binder clip, hand held stapler, and a nickel.
The things seems like a gasket or a cover for a screw or something. It seems to be a vinyl vice rubber. there is a flat top, tapering at the other end, and about 1/4 to 1/3 that is a missing section that runs lengthwise. I have had the car for about 6 weeks, other than the luggage rack issue and a bulb that went out - all is good (wish MPG was better but I do about 1 hour and 30 of rush hour traffic almost daily - so it's liable to change much. This thing (whatever it is) was on the driver's side floor mat - the day of my original post.
There is an occasional rattle - it's not constant and it does not always occur even when on the same roads where it was heard previously. I wear hearing aids so I can't quite pinpoint where it comes from - could be just a gum or change container in the storage bin, but to my ear it seems to come from the driver's side dash board.
Anyway, thanks for any help on whatever this thing is and if I should be concerned about it.

Looks like junk the prior owner left behind and indicates the selling dealer did a poor job preparing it for sale.

Could very well be. If they did miss it that would stink - but the thing looks like it may have fallen from somewhere or something. It's not dirty or anything - in fact I put winter weather techs in about 2 weeks before this thing materialized - so I am inclined to think it had to have fallen from somewhere vice was debris that was never cleaned up. I would think I would have seen it when I took out the old and put the new mats in.
It's not the same material as the mats - so it did not come from them.
If I take the car for the roof rack, I will ask them at that point.
