Behind the rear view mirror - GPS mount's adhesive has weakened so it is dangling. How to fix?

The black box to the right of the rear view mirror? That's the rain sensor.

You can get new adhesive from Toyota/Lexus, part number: 8994442010

 

What year and how many miles are on your RX450h? If it's still under warranty bring it to the dealer.

I just had my Rain Sensors wipers quit. The sensor was coming loose from the windshield. Lexus is aware of this problem and it was covered under warranty by REPLACING THE WINDSHIELD!

Here is the text from the service order. The warranty billing was about $1,400

"SERVICE HISTORY FOR: 2015 RX 450H

DATE: 06/28/2016

SERVICE: RAIN SENSING WIPERS NOT WORKING
DESCRIPTION: RAIN SENSING WIPERS NOT WORKING ~|~C/S THE RAIN SENSING WIPERS ARE NOT WORKING ~|~RAIN SENSING WIPERS NOT WORKING ~|~3992 EXCESSIVE CLEARANCE IN RAIN SENSOR. BLUE RIBBON TO INSTALL NEW WINDSHIELD."

edit: FYI, Blue Ribbon http://www.blueribbonautoglassinc.com is the Lexus certified 3rd party windshield installation shop that Lexus uses locally.

 

Oh just out of warranty. About 40k - 2013 year Dear husband is not going to like any more $ spent on this car.

Attached a picture. Its behind the rearview mirror and keeps falling off. There is a small rectangle sticky glue patch that keeps falling off and this sensor dangles.

So I guess my option to avoid the $1200 is this - seems high for a small piece of tape but we get used to that for lexus anything I guess

your picture looks looks different than my 2015. Using the Toyota Rain Sensor tape part number 8994442010 is worth a try for about $20.
