I had my car serviced at my Lexus dealership. When I went to pick it up, the air conditioner was on, but the engine was not running.

Can someone please tell me how to do this?

So I assume the RX wasn't totally turned off, was it in the "Ignition On Mode" position (engine not running but most accessories can be used) and the air blowing from the vents?

If this is the case, the A/C compressor wasn't running and you just experienced the vent blowing air. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure the A/C compressor will not run without the engine running.

Step 1: Trade in for RX450h.

The A/C was used before you picked up your vehicle. The evaporator was probably still cold so you're just feeling what's left in the system.

That was probably it. How do I turn on ignition mode only?

Push the start button without depressing the brake pedal.

Thanks, that works. Although I'm surprised you can't put the windows down when in this mode.

Gamesharq - With your foot off the brake, pushing the start button once gives you a certain set of capabilities. Pushing it again lights up the dash and activates the windows.
At least that's the way it is on mine. I think this is all in the owner's manual, which I read only if all else fails. : )

Ra

Possibly my only gripe with the RX 350 was deciding not to read the manual in its entirety because it's as long as War and Peace. Plus this board provides answers to the tricky stuff, like
why is my brand new car making an odd humming noise in the garage while not running?
