Default Rain Sensor woes

Hi folks

Is the rain sensor suppose to adjust the wiper blade speed based on rain intensity?

Having a problem with rain sensor on our 2013 RX. It stopped working altogether and we brought this to a dealer. They replaced /reglued the strip on the windshield, and now wipers turn on when the stalk is in the Auto mode, but they barely move and do not react to water intensity when tested with water from a garden hose.

Any thoughts?

2 weeks ago I had my 2015 in for same issue. Dealer had to replace the windshield to get the rain sensor wipers to work. They said that glue came loose and re-gluing it would not fix the issue.

I don't know is its the same issue with the 2013 models.

Vehicle speed is also a factor in the wiper auto speed. It may be harder to encourage a faster wiper speed while sitting still.

I have owned numerous vehicles over the years from several brands that had raining sensing wipers. And in my experience it doesn't mater if its Lexus, MB, Infiniti etc the rain sensing wipers never seem to work they way they're supposed to..

Usually when I have the rain sensing wipers on, 9 out of 10 times I have to manually have them wipe the windshield. I much prefer the "old school" intermittent wipers.

Wanted to update everyone that the problem seemed to have been resolved with windshield glass replacement by wtty. It took 2 weeks or so for dealer to get Lexus permission though because that glass is about $1500
