I have a 2010 RX 350. I am thinking about upgrading the nav system. I recently was given a NX 200 as a loaner. I liked the features it had for nav.

My question is, if I upgrade my RX, will get get some of these features, or does it just upgrade the map?

The only upgrade available is the map data. You cannot add the other features, unfortunately.

 

If by upgrading your RX you mean buying a 2016 model, then yes.
All these techno-gadgets promote new vehicle sales. That's why manufacturers have an incentive to slowly roll-out new features.

 

Welcome to CL, zamtex. The 2010 RX has 6th generation system while the CT probably had 7th or 8th generation. Upgrading to the 2013+ RX will take you to 7th generation. We have to hope 8th generation or maybe something newer will be introduced on the 2016 RX. Click here for the current nav update information.

 

no, upgrade the nav system. I was talking about the layout of the new nav system, it shows you upcoming tolls, and other little features. I was wondering if it comes with an upgrade, considering what they charge you for it and all.

its better to get a portable system, which comes with traffic and lifetime free updates.

 

zamtex, if you look at the 2013 RX, it's not the same layout as your 2010. The generation versions are different. But it might not be the same as the CT you had as a loaner either. It depends on the year. The link I provided has both generation and nav upgrade information.
