Starting in 2018 Lexus began using "Dynamic Nav" and "Dynamic Voice".
Our smart phones are not really that smart, they reach out to the cloud servers
for the voice recognition and data that we hear. Try Siri when you are out of
cell tower range...nothing. After a confusing array of service terms and pricing since
2010
Lexus has simplified the subscription services completely. 36 months of everything:
Enform App, Remote Start, Dynamic Nav and Voice.

All vehicle on-board navigation systems are obsolete within six months to a year. It is not worth spending money on them for updates. You are always better off simply using the navigation features on any smartphone.

Thanks Neil, I may just do that last 2019 update.

A major software update making Android Auto possible would nice. Yeah, I'll keep dreaming.

I believe the only things that get updated are the maps and POIs. I am not sure how that would help you with AA.

Default Nav System Software Upgrade post 2017

I have been advised the CD software update for my RX350 (c.2010) has ceased after the last 2017 version, 5 years ago. Is there another way to update the MAPS database (DENSO Sensis Maps) which are now not 100% correct?

Hopefully not because it was closer to 40% correct even when customers paid the insane fees to keep it updated. Just use a phone in the cupholder.
This Lexus navigation is the worst I've seen in any vehicle, ever.

There is some confusion about hardware(including firmware) and software (map data). They are two different things.
Here is a link that might help readers.

Bottom line: Call closet dealership parts with you vin number along with the map version you have. In all cases [even if you can get the latest software], your mobile phone based apps willl give you the best solution, even if it does not integrate well.

There is a certain year [around 2015/16] that Lexus switched to life long [as long as the system is available] live traffic and map data. Before that time, you have to go to Lexus for update[for a fee. For sure for 2011 model]. Going further back there was an option to purchase and install the map data with flash drive.

I would suggest just call Lexus dealership and ask for the price of map data update. Many of us have come to the conclusion that the updating price does not justify purchasing it.

Agreed. Paying to update these maps nowadays is just throwing money away.

For a little bit more, I would install aftermarket Android Auto/CarPlay (such as Grom's VLine). Your phone's GPS is better than any car's.
