Rear hatch door on 2012 RX350
when something or someone is in the way of the hatch closing the door does not stop or go back up. This has injured my wife twice.
On our Mdx as soon as the door meets resistance the door goes back up
There has to be a setting for this that stops the closing motion when resistance is met
My salesman had no idea
I hope one of you can help
Thanks
Bill

Welcome to CL. Sorry you and your wife are encountering problems, and this has to be your first post topic.
There are no adjustable or customizable items on this from a user perspective. I'm not aware anyone has conclusively determined there is or is not something Lexus Service could do to adjust sensitivity, but with a 2012, you may still be under warranty, so it's something you could ask Service (not your Salesperson) about.
Have you seen THIS thread about the auto-reverse feature? The net of that IMHO, is the primary mechanisms to trigger the hatch pulling back if it's obstructed, are the black pinch sensors that look like gaskets lining the sides of the hatch door -- there is no equivalent on the bottom edge of the hatch. Beyond those specific sensors, the door should reverse if sufficient resistant is applied to it when it's moving -- but from that thread, you'll note how Lexus has set the threshold in the design, it takes what some people consider more force than they feel is appropriate especially is someone has their head or body part stuck partway into the cargo area, and is not paying attention when someone else remotely closes the hatch.
