Default Check engine light and loud knocking

Started up our 2010 RX 350 and there was loud knocking. This smoothed out after several seconds. I stopped engine and started it again. This time the knocking was less severe, but now the Check Engine light is on. Engine seems to be running a little rough as well. Think it's ok to drive to the local Toyota dealer? I have a feeling I have a bad plug or wire maybe? Thanks.

Have you checked your oil level? Have you kept up with the maintenance? If the knocking is from the rods I'd tow it in rather than drive it.

Jim,
if he knew he would not be asking.
Of course the tow is the safest way.

Bad wire of plug would not cause loud knocking, just vibration and reduced power.
