Backup Camera Guidelines

Just found this aftermarket option. Not sure if it will work with our RXs but still interesting.

This is an area where Infiniti DESTROYS Lexus. My buddy has either an FX or an EX 35 and its backup camera is a piece of art. Ours is... A camera that kind of lets you see out the back (when not caked in road film, which it always is because the vehicle creates a vacuum behind it).

Backup camera guidelines?
Hi guys,
I have a 2015 RX350. Usually when I put the gear into reverse, it just displays the backup camera. However, when I looked at the owner's manual, there seems to be an illustration of guidelines on the backup camera. Does anyone know if the guidelines are "toggle-able"/can be activated? Or are guidelines part of a separate package?
I'm currently not near my car nor my manual, but I could take pictures if anyone needs to see for reference.
Thanks!

As stated above - No US RX have ever had guidelines through 2015 RX/RXh.

The guide lines are shown in the manual as you state on pages 255-263 but as stated above -- and as I recall -- they were not available on US models.
Post 50 in this thread already mentioned this but also note that those pages are specific to the rear view system with the display in the mirror. The sections for the Lexus Display Audio system, pages 264-268, and the rear view section of the navigation manual -- for those with navigation -- do not show guide lines on the screens.

Here's a reference to what I'm talking about:

That's the online pdf of a 2015 RX350 manual. On the PDF pages of 258 to 260, they have illustrations of backup camera guidelines. Kind of weird that they have it in there.

Allow me a little digression...
Fifteen years ago I developed an avocation of shooting documentaries for high school choirs touring European venues in the summertime, then burning the movies to DVD for distribution (several hundred copies at a time). For printing on the surface of the DVDs I discovered that the Canon inkjet printer line had that capability--but apparently not in the USA. Sure enough, I took a screwdriver to my Canon IP3000 inkjet printer's front panel, pried off a small piece of plastic, and--surprise!--there was the DVD feed slot all along.
Canon built the printer for the world market. In the USA, Epson held patent rights for DVD inkjet printing, so Canon put a cover on the disk slot and altered the firmware. Turns out that if you loaded Canadian or Australian firmware into the printer, all the disk-printing functionality returned. Great printer and a lot of us did just that.
Now, back to Lexus...
My point is that I suspect grid lines are already in the backup software, but have been turned off for the USA due to patent issues. There must be a way to go into the "service menu" or whatever and turn then back on. All it will take is some service tech who knows his way around the system.

Back up camera grid?
I got really used to, and liked the back up camera grid in my Tacoma. Is there a way to get a grid on the 2015 Lexus RX350? The tech guy at Lexus dealer said no.???
