Door auto-unlock on Park?
Nah ..I don't see it as anywhere near a battle
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on my little problem none the less. I may just check out your product when I feel the need for it. Sounds like it (and others) has more to offer than my standalone rig has. However, there is still that nagging feeling of vulnerability : http://www.americanbar.org/publicati...2_balough.html -- take away from the article what you wish.
In the meantime, I will take it to the dealer when next in the area and see what their tech has to offer.

Yes, your security concerns are not unfounded. I've seen multiple such publications from researchers who manage to practically take over most functions in a car... albeit not a Lexus, but still. I actually know the researchers at the University of Washington mentioned in that article - one of them used to be my professor in Computer Security back in grad school. So anyway, you're right to be cautious. Definitely don't trust random apps that connect to your car. Look at reviews, number of downloads, feedback from people on forums, etc.
That's what I thought. I'm having a problem understanding the situation. Shift into park , doors unlock, turn off engine. Is this not the same as doors unlocking when engine is shutoff? Car has to be in park to shut off engine anyway?
Still come confusion here
Ok, it's cold and snowing: I go to the ferry to pick up my wife, no wife yet ..engine still running -- doors still locked -- put into Park -- doors still locked. Oh, there she is ..now shut the engine off, doors auto-unlock. I get out to help her with the luggage into the back cargo area, which is also now unlocked.
So this would be Engine-dependent??
My Camry is set up like this and is handy.
Meh.. that option would just be a convenience for us. In this case, we can probably live with either of the 2 options offered.
So, just a new car and trying to get used to it's subtleties is all. Really, no biggy

Thanks guys for helping out with the discussion. I'm sure there will be other things I will want to explore in other threads as time goes on

We have a new-to-us 2010 LCPO RX350 Touring w/Sport trim.
It came in pristine condition -- the previous owner never even set up the Nav!
Just now learning all the in's and out's of the car along with the Personalized Settings feature.
One option I cannot seem to find is: having the car unlock its door(s) just after the engine is shut down and the gear selector is placed back into Park.
Is this feature available to be reprogrammed?

Welcome to the forum. If you have an Android phone or tablet, you can use our app to change this setting (and many others) by yourself, without going to a dealer and paying lots of money. The app is called Carista - check out the link in my signature. You'll also need a Bluetooth dongle, but those are cheap (again, info on our website).
