Default Free Hard Drive Nav Update?

I just got a 1999 GS with Navi (Hard Drive) and it looks as if the navigation hard drive was not updated at all. I know that you get like one free update with the Navigation system, but it wasnt used. If I go to a Lexus Dealer will they still honor the free navi update?

Thanks

I contacted the Lexus Customer Satisfaction Department after I found out about this free Nav update at CL. Although my basic warranty expired few weeks prior to contact Lexus Customer Satisfaction Department, I was given a free update.

yes.....I just got mine for my 2000 and my factory warranty is gone, but extended is in full effect....

u get 2 free updates for the 98-2000 from factory provided any owner didn't cash in on it (the previous owner for my car didn't do **** so i was lucky)

fortunate or unfortunately if you have both updates available to you, only one is available and thats Fall 2003 and there won't be anything after it coming so you sort of get shafted.

My update is at the dealer waitin for me

I have a 99 also. My warranty is expired, and my dealer told me that this meant "no updates" for me.
Then, they got all nice and said that they would give me one for free since the car had never been updated.

I'd love to get a Fall 2003 one. Anyone have any idea's??

Default Has anyone seen these hard drives?

I'm going to go on a limb here and think that these hard drives weren't designed specifically for lexus. And if that's the case, they most likely are laptop hard drives since they are smaller.

Anyone thought about mirroring an old hard drive from a Fall 2003 updated hard drive?

I'm pretty sure it's possible.

what's wrong with that dealer lol

if you're in SoCal, Longo Lexus can definitely update it. It just costs $250 or so.

I'm going to call Lexus CS tomorrow to find out about this whole free update thing. I've heard on CL that you get 2 free for 98~00, but my service guy told me 2000s don't get any.

I called the Long Island Lexus dealer and they said my 99 was not covered under warrranty. They did not ask if it had one or two or any updates. The kicker was they said $450 to update it!

I would love to get a reliable contact and phone number for a Lexus rep that belives there are two updates avail for 98-99 models.

PS - I'm the one that was chastized for mentioning to rip the image off the undoubtably "not" Lexus built hard drive.
