Default Auto-light no longer functions / anything DIY to be done here?

Hi folks -
I've got the switch set to Auto for headlights, etc. Nothing happens anymore (running lights used to come on during the day and headlights at night). Is there anything I can check?

I guess I'm curious where the sensor is just to look and make sure it's not something stupid before going to the garage/dealer.

Surprise twist --

After going to the dealer it appears the previous owner had hooked up a 3rd party remote-ignition system! Because of that Lexus won't look at it.

I guess my only option now is to call up a custom installer and ask for them to peek under the hood. At the very least they might be able to spot a faulty install.

Did you ever rule out a blown fuse? Stands to reason that if it was working and now stopped, that could be a likely cause.

One of the likely ones to check I think is #11 under the hood. Unfortunately it appears to be in a panel that won't budge. Anyone know how to pull those?

Yes, and it doesn't appear to have any special instructions for that panel so I'd assume that means it should just pull right out.

To be clear I'm talking about this:
