Default Timing Chain Marks

Good morning all. I have a 2014 that I needed head gasket. Don't ask. Yes a 2014. I am trying to put timing chain back on but I need some help with the marks of timing chain and how to get that properly set up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hate to say this, but my impression is that very few folks on this forum would ever attempt to tear down an engine, myself included. Not many even change their own oil & filters. I hope you connect with someone to assist you--best of luck!

I would hire an experienced assistant and pay him/her well.

Besides, it is under warranty. Why even touch such a job?

Forgot to mention-----SInce the RX engine is the same as a Toyota 3.5L V6, you can try other forums, or even visit a Toyota dealer for help.

Uhhh, salvage vehicles do not come with a warranty. Or, something may have happened that voided the warranty for this failure. Stuff happens. We simply don't know the details. Since the OP hasn't explained the circumstances, let's not make lots of assumptions.

Something tells me we won't hear from him again.....

Hi Dennis,
Please tell us why you are into a brand new engine. My wife thinks it's your wife's car and you did something to blow the head gasket, and now are trying to fix it yourself.

Did you mark the position of the cams and crankshaft before the chain came off? Or are you talking about completely starting from scratch & looking for tdc on cylinder 1 type of mark? There usually a mark on the crankshaft sprocket indicating tdc. There are USUALLY no marks specific to the chain itself that I recall in older vehicles, can't imagine that would change.

Here is a link to a timing chain video on a Highlander. Maybe there will be something there to help you. Good luck. BTW, it's been some time since the original post. What was your solution?
