I just recently replaced the cabin filter on my 2012 rx350 and now the A/C doesn't work. I checked under the hood and the compressor doesn't kick in. Any ideas what caused it? Or should I take it to the dealership to have it checked out? It only has about 20,000 miles too

 

hmmm, that must be a complete coincidence or the AC wasn't working prior to the cabin filter.

Sure, let the dealer know, but if this was my car to attempt to avoid a trip, I'd first try to "reboot" the car by unplugging the positive terminal from the battery, wait a few seconds, re-plug it back in. Then test. Good luck.

 

I unplugged the terminal and rebooted it. Still doesn't work. I guess dealership I go then

 

^^^ Was worth a try. Very unusual and rare. It's too bad, but at least it will be under warranty. Good luck and keep us posted.

 

Did you follow the procedure and put the AC in RECIRCULATE mode first? You might have broken something? I would advice that you put the old filter back in before bring it in so the dealer wont give you a hard time.

 

I don't remember if I did. I checked the inside to see if I did break anything. When I pushed the recirc the flap moved. I hope I didn't break anything. :x

 

From what I remember it is very important that the instructions be followed or something DOES break.

I hope this is not the case
