Question AWD and Check engine light on

Recently when starting RX350 the check engine light and Check AWD lights went on. Driving the car for a short distance it idled very roughly and had no power (could not exceed 50mph). Drove home, shut car off, and restarted within 5 minutes. All lights went out, and car performed well. No problems since....what could have caused this problem?

Welcome to Club Lexus, rferg64.

With the CEL (check engine light) coming on it should have been stored. If you go to a local auto parts store, such as Advance Auto Parts or AutoZone, they will hook up a scanner free of charge and pull the diagnostic code for you. Let us know what that is and we can hopefully provide a better idea of what is going on.

Frequent battery issues were posted these days on CL for folks living in colder climates... I can't help think if it's related...

Yes, when the battery starts to go all sorts of little nasty gremlins seem to pop up. Would not hurt to have the battery and charging checked at the same time.
