Default '11 Lexus RX auto-dimming rear view mirror

I have a 2011 Lexus RX350. I noticed that only the left light appears to be on the auto dimming rear view mirror even though they are two lights visible. Is this normal or shall I get it checked out? Thanks in advance.

From what I read somewhere on this forum that the one on the right is not a light but a sensor.

yep, the green light indicates whether or not the dimming effect is turned on. the other one is the sensors that sees if there is light coming from behind you. The other sensor that sees if there is light coming from the front is on the back of the rearview

Here is another question though. At the back of the mirror, on its enclosure there is another opening that seems to be another sensor. But there is also another pointy part covered with clear glass and looks like a lens of a front-facing camera. What is it?

That larger facing camera is for the auto high beams seeing if there is oncoming traffic

I've always wanted to turn off the dimming rear view mirror but there doesn't seem to be a way to default it off. Has anyone covered this sensor to effectively shut it off?

what are auto high beams and does it come only with certain options? I have a 2013 RX

CanadianRX, you can turn it off using the switch on the rear view mirror beside the garage door opener

Yeah the switch to turn it off is the button on the front of the mirror.

Auto high beams were part of an option package on earlier RX models 2010-2012 and were removed in 2013 and beyond. If you turned this feature on, the high beams would turn off automatically when oncoming traffic is approaching or if you are approaching another car. It sees brake lights and headlights
