Front Bumper Replacement
Hey guys! I had my car (2011 RX 350) parked in a Stop and Shop parking lot and some idiot hit my front bumper and the cover has a 2 inch crack towards the bottom. Since it is my front bumper it looks as if i hit someone so it will be probably go against me if I claim it on my insurance and may not be worth it as I have a $500 deductible. So I had a couple of questions:
1) What is the difference between aftermarket or OEM?
I know the costs differences and ones made by lexus and ones not... but what else? Is the OEM worth it?
2) Can I replace the bumper cover with a 2013 RX 350 bumper cover or the 2013 RX 350 F sport bumper cover? I believe the headlight fixtures are the same.... but is it possible? I know I may have to replace the grill.
3) Should I go to lexus for the repair or is any collision shop okay? They are more likely to negotiate than the dealership.

Sorry to hear about your bumper.
I've used www.carstar.com for repairs and used OEM parts. Difference between aftermarket (rare for some parts of the RX) and OEM might not be that significant so I just don't bother, especially since Sewell has decent pricing (rebate if you are a club Lexus member).
In theory, it's possible to change your bumper to the 2013, but it will be expensive. Look at all the parts involved adding up to ~$1500
http://lexus.sewellparts.com/oem-cat...X350-2013.html
For your 2011, the cover 52119A is $411 (minus rebate, only $294 after I login)

If you want to keep the RX for many more years, upgrading to the '13 bumper may be worth it if you feel you will enjoy the vehicle for the next several years. But if you will sell it in a couple years, keep in mind you will not get a dime back on resale for this "mod" you will do.
Good luck

oh no! sucks to hear that! hit and runs are the worse. happened to my friends IS but the other person left a note lol.
anyway I'm also in for answers to this as I'm a gear head and can't leave anything stock. I have a 2011 rx450h and just completely in love with the f sport bumper. you will definitely need the front bumper, upper and lower grill and bottom lip as well as other miscellaneous parts such as under engine cover and stuff
it was discussed here

I just bought mine and plan on keeping it for a while so I'm down to spend some $$to make it look better. I'm wanting to do the headlights and bumper swap
