Default Buying a 2010 RX350

Greetings,
I am considering buying a 2010 RX350 AWD w/Nav with 40-55K mileage.
What are the caveats? What should I pay the attention to?
Thanks!

Purchased my 2010 RX this past summer. It had a low speed 'rumble' that I first thought was tires but turned out to be a bad front wheel bearing. I suggest you test drive w/o radio and listen for any mechanical sounds that may annoy you in the future. Best of luck in your search.

Going over 50,000 is going over the Lexus warranty.
So if you can get an extended warranty, get it.

Ask for new tires.

Two excellent answers. Other than have your own mechanic take a look at it, I got nothin' else.

I think if you get a CPO it can have up to 60K right?

Hunt for a lower mileage car. Read both CarFax and Autocheck reports.

Nov. 2012 I bought a 2010 with 21,150 miles.

CPO warranty is 3 year 100k, whichever comes first.

I've been very happy with our 2010 CPO. Had 2 issues in 2+ years of ownership:

1. Rear strut was making a grinding noise; replaced under warranty at 40k.
2. Vibration/rattle in steering wheel at low speeds; steering rack replaced under warranty.

I believe that both were known issues that had dealer service bulletins.

If buying CPO insist on new tires, and try to negotiate new brake pads. I would also avoid the Obsidian Black color (I have it). I don't mind the extra maintenance of black cars but this Lexus black seems very susceptible to swirls and fine scratches.

I just bought a 2011 CPO with 32,000 miles for $32,000. Warranty is good for 3 years and 100,000 miles. The 2010 was the first model year of this model. I might try to pay up for a 2011 as they got some of the bugs out and there should be lots of them coming off 3 year leases. I do remember reading something here about going to better sound proof glass sometime during 2010 model year. Some people have complained of more wind noise on some 2010s. If you want a softer ride get the 18 inch rims, if better handling is more important, the 19s. If the roads are crappy where you live, you might lean toward the 18s. Happy hunting. Regards. Ned.

Bought a 2010 CPO RX350 in August with 30120 miles and it is as quiet and beautiful as a brand new vehicle. Solid as a rock. More solid than prior Lexus sedans owned.

There are TWO kinds of 2010 RX 350

1. built late 2009
2. built 2010

Get the RX built in 2010, especially if you're NOT getting a CPO.
for NON-CPO, you can still purchase an extended warranty before the factory warranty expires
Standard warranty is 4 years/50,000 miles, so just do the math.

My 2010 CPO was built in late 2010 (August) and the odometer had just passed 30K miles which meant that the 30K service was last thing done to it. They did replace a rear strut upon inspection which seems to be a common problem and on TSB. Sure seems as if they should have done both struts, but it is typical for them to do one only.

Is that also a TSB for the 2011 model year? Did you notice any problems with the ride before they replaced the strut? Thanks. Regards. Ned.

Thanks everyone for the tips. I ended up buying 2010 ultra premium, built in Nov 2009 in Japan, with 65K mileage, CPO
Unfortunately this one is 2009 built, not 2010. Also, to me some of the Ultra premium features are an overkill but the dealer did not have a suitable alternatives such as touring (I wanted a larger display and a backup cam). Hope all these extra electronics VDIM etc will last.
