Extra key fob for 2010 RX 350
I just bought a preowned 2010 RX350 that came with only one key fob. Wanted to get another one, saw posting by others that they got the transponder and keys from Sewell. I just created an account in Sewell and noticed they do cut the keys once we provide the VIN number of the car along with car registration. Has anyone used that service before? and whether the keys cut was the right fit to the car and glovebox keyhole? I enquired the local lexus dealership and if I went through them, total cost would be close to $390 for parts and labor for the transponder and keys . How much lexus dealerships charge if we provide the unprogrammed keyfob like from Sewell? and do dealerships generally program the fobs even if we do not purchase the fob through them? Appreciate the help!

I don't see why they wouldn't take your money to program a key fob. I would get a quote first, though, as it may not be cost-effective. You could also try your local Toyota dealer. The software (TIS Techstream) to program these should be the same.

Does anyone know if the wallet (credit card size) FOB is available for the 2014 RX350?
I got two "large" FOBs when I bough the car but I would rather not have to carry one in my pocket if the wallet type is availble.

With the master key cut to the VIN from Sewell and key fob together, the total cost including shipping came out to $191.54. Of course I would need to take the key fob to the local dealership to get it programmed which will cost another $65 which brings the total to 256.54 which is cheaper than $390 that the dealership quoted!

I believe the consensus on the above was that the key blade is one-sided, so it can't be cut to work in an RX and that it still needs to be programmed-in. The card must also be virgin, or extra steps are needed to re-initialize it.

mshumack: Are you talking about Smart Access card?

The Smart Access Card is $234.02 if you create an account with Sewell. The wallet key is not included and costs $69.60, $85.35 if you have them cut it for you.

Yes Anita. I ordered through Sewell yesterday and should be getting the fob and master key shortly. I also let them cut the master key to my VIN, need to check whether it perfectly fits my door and glovebox keyholes.
