Anyone here who knows where I should go to replace a broken side window? Or shoud I call the dealer to get it fixed?
Thanks to the laminated glass, the thief couldn't get into the inside so nothing was stolen. But the car next to me was not so lucky - its side window was smashed into many small pieices. Police was called. It's in downtown Cleveland.
Sorry to hear. Talk to your insurance to see where you would have to take it if you want it covered. Insist on OEM glass.
Where you parked on the street or a garage? One more reason to stay away from downtown.
If you go to the dealer, your insurance may not cover the full amount. I would call your insurance company and find out how much your policy will cover to replace a broken side window. It will fall under your comprehensive coverage. On an older car I owner, the insurance company paid close to nothing on the front windshield since I had a $500 deductible. Please keep in mind, it is your right to have it replaced at a Lexus dealership, however, your insurance carrier most likely will not be willing to pay the dealer's price since they can have Safelite do it for much, much less. See if your Lexus dealership will work with you.
