Problem starting my car
I have a 2010 RX with 36k miles. Car started fine when i went to the store this morning, but when i went to leave the store, got a scratching/clicking sound when went to start the car. After several minutes of trying, it finally started. Lights/windows/electrics all worked fine. Any idea what the problem could be - battery, starter, something else? Any help would be appreciated.
I would assume it is the battery. Take it somewhere and have the battery tested. It might be in the "marginal" range it sounds like. I have never seen or heard of any issues with the starter or anything else in that area even on vehicles with really high miles. Keep us posted.
After three years of TX heat the sure bet would be the battery. Have had some good OEM batteries and some bad OEM batteries. No real rhyme or reason. You can check with the dealership on Monday about the cost to replace -- there is some discussion as to whether it is covered under warranty or not. Or, you can just go to your local Costco, Interstate Battery or other shop to have it swapped out. Word of note, if replaced you may need to reset the window and sunroof controls. Instructions are in your Owner's Manual.
Its the battery, cuz i had this happen to me two nights ago as i was hiding in my RX350 across the street from my gas station in the bushes and trees trying to catch some theives who stole over a thousand dollors in surveillance equpment the night before from outside my business. I had my car die on me when i went to start it in the morning and after i got a jump the car was fine.
