Navigation inputs
Does the car need to be running to input info into the nav system. I have a 2010 model. There is now no accessory mode like the old ignition key system, so must you idle the car with the engine running while inserting all your info?

No, I don't play soccer!
There is an accessory mode. Just press the start button once, no foot on the brake. The nav screen will work. You should be able to enter an address into nav. I do it all the time. Then you can press the start button once with your foot on the brake to start the RX or press the start button twice, no foot on the brake, to turn it completely off. If you do neither, you'll get beeps when you try to leave the RX and won't be able to lock it.

If you keep your foot off the brake and push the start button once, it will be in accessory mode. Push it twice and it will be in the ON mode. I haven't tried it, but I would think you'd be able to input into the nav system when in the ON position, without the engine being on.

I would be careful about having the car in the on position with the engine off. If you go to the second position where all of the guages are lit up, you will probably drain the battery in about 10 minutes because you are not only powering up the navi, but also the ignition, climate control system, guages, and several computers (not to mention the seat heaters, defrosters, etc).
If you are just on the first position (also called the accessory position), you should not have this problem.
If you are just on the first position (also called the accessory position), you should not have this problem.
